"In the midst of our diversity, Spirit of Hope MCCKC celebrates God’s love and acceptance as we share God’s Word with each other, the community and the world."

"Illumination” dedicated April 4th, 2009
July Proclaimed Retro PJ Month
Pastor John Barbone has preached a number of great sermons while pastoring Spirit of Hope MCC. We’ve asked him to revisit a few of them, update them and then bring us a new telling of those lessons for our church.
So Pastor John will pick out some of his favorites and you’ll be blessed to have heard them. You won’t want to miss the sermons on July 12, 19 and 26th as we celebrate Pastor John’s leadership of our church.
August is Time for Heroes
August is Time for Heroes
Heroes, both male and female, will be the theme of this year’s Chautauqua during the month of August. We’ll look at Biblical heroes, historical theological heroes and personal spiritual heroes. Our visiting clergy will preach about these persons and talk about how they have made an impact on their spiritual journey. You’ll get a chance to name Spiritual Heroes that you know of and those who might not even know that you were affected by them will have their story told during August.
We know that Heroes are popular in movies and television. We love to have someone come to our rescue and to help us be safe and achieve all we can. Sometimes they knew that they were special – called to a specific purpose. Others wouldn’t think of themselves as heroes, they were only doing what was right or what they felt had to be done. We even have heroes sitting in our sanctuary on a weekly basis.
We have heroes of our denomination like Troy Perry, Jeri Ann Harvey and Sam Rape. We have heroes in our lives like teachers, preachers and even parents. So the topic of heroes has lots of things we can explore during August.
We are making plans to feature art, music and activities during August too. And even these things will give us a chance to think about those who are our heroes of our lives in many ways. While we won’t be in the big tent, instead we’ll keep the air on in the building, it will be our chance to do something fun and different from the normal as we think about Heroes. So invite your friends to join us during the month of August for Spirit of Hope’s Chautauqua 2009.

That if you think you have the flu or exhibit symptoms, you should stay home and not come to church.
While we hate anyone to miss, it is important to remember that we have members of our congregation with lowered immunity and for whom the flu could be deadly.
We provide Purell dispensers in all restroom and our communion distributors use a hand sanitizer before distributing communion. Please help us keep everyone healthy this spring.
